About The Role

iMap is a small Special Educational Needs (SEN) school with 20 placements, located in a beautiful rural setting. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for our students. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate part-time chef to join our team and help us provide nutritious and delicious meals for our students and staff. The chef will also prepare meals to be transported to our other school site in Frodsham.

Job Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare balanced, nutritious meals that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our students.
  • Shopping: Manage the procurement of fresh ingredients and supplies, ensuring all items are within budget and of high quality.
  • Food Hygiene: Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Menu Planning: Develop weekly menus that are varied, healthy, and appealing to children with different dietary requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Keep track of kitchen inventory, ensuring that all necessary items are stocked and minimizing waste.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with school staff to accommodate any special dietary needs or allergies.
  • Cleaning: Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are kept clean and organised at all times.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a school or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Ability to plan and prepare meals that meet nutritional guidelines.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and understanding of the needs of children with special educational needs.
  • Driver's License: Having a valid driver's license would be beneficial for managing shopping and supply runs, especially given the school's rural location.
