We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Chief Design Engineer, to be involved in Industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.

Reporting to the Chief Plant Engineer, the Chief Design Engineer – Conventional Island is accountable for leading the development of the RR SMR power conventional islands, which constitutes Turbine island, Cooling water Island and Balance of Plant design and specification.

This role will be responsible for ensuring the Conventional Island design are matured consistently with all design factors understood and managed. The role will require extensive interfacing and team working around the entire power station design programme, internally and externally, developing the systems, structures and components of the power station with a clear focus on all key attributes.

The role is accountable for leadership of the following key areas: Turbine Island, Cooling water Island and Balance of Plant. This will include all design and interface activities including substantiation of the E3S case.

The role will provide a critical input and support to the supply chain development for partnership and components procurement strategies for the RR SMR programme.

The candidate will be an engineering leader with a strong record of delivery of large complex programmes with extensive supply chain engagement and design integration challenges. The candidate will demonstrate strong power station (or equivalent) knowledge and have extensive experience of leading and integration of large multi-discipline design programmes, with experience of Systems engineering and licensing of nuclear plant.

Pay And Benefits

We anticipate paying a salary from £105,000- £125,000 DOE plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 25%
  • Long Term Bonus Opportunity 15% via Shares
  • Benefits Allowance – £10,500 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
