We’re searching for an outstanding technical leader to become our Chief Engineer for the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). In this exciting role, you’ll drive our efforts in developing Tempest, the RAF’s next-generation fighter aircraft, setting new standards in tactical sensing and electronic warfare.

What You’ll Do
- Strategic Design Management As the Chief Engineer, you’ll oversee the design integrity of the solution, working closely with our technical experts to ensure that our ISANKE product
- Meets the needs of our customers.
- Works seamlessly with other aircraft mission systems.
- Is reliable and robust in the most demanding of operational environments.
- Meets all safety and airworthiness regulations.
- Is secure and protected against electronic and cyber threats.
- Represent Leonardo UK You will act as the face of Leonardo UK in high-level international technical discussions with partners and customers across the UK, Italy and Japan.
- Drive Innovation Collaborate with our research teams to bring the latest innovations into the GCAP and help develop the next generation of technical leaders.

You Really Must Have
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject.
- A strong technical background in the design, qualification and certification of mission critical equipment.
- Significant depth of technical leadership experience spanning the entire engineering lifecycle, including systems and platform integration, and the application of relevant design assurance processes and standards.
- A structured approach to technical problem solving, excellent communication skills, and experience of providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
- On the path to achieving professional registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Note This role requires the candidate to have, or be able to achieve, DV security clearance. For national security reasons the majority of the work will need to be conducted on-site at our facility in Capability Green, Luton, with occasional travel to other UK locations and overseas.
