Chief Financial Officer

A private equity-backed business in the consumer goods sector is seeking a commercially driven and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join its senior leadership team. This is a pivotal hire as the company enters a new phase of growth, focused on digital expansion, international scaling, and operational transformation.

The business operates through both B2B and B2C channels, with a strong heritage product portfolio and a growing global footprint. Recent investment has positioned the company for accelerated growth, and the CFO will play a critical role in shaping strategy, driving performance, and ensuring financial discipline across the organisation.

The Role

As CFO, you’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Board and investors. You’ll lead all financial operations while acting as a key strategic partner, driving commercial decisions, performance improvement, and long-term value creation.

You’ll oversee a finance team and be responsible for management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, investor relations, and financial governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning
• Strengthen financial governance, reporting, and compliance
• Act as a commercial sounding board to the CEO and Board
• Drive performance and accountability across the finance team
• Improve processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure
• Manage relationships with investors, banks, and external stakeholders
• Support strategic initiatives including international expansion and digital growth
• Play a key role in shaping culture and driving a high-performance mindset

About You

You’ll be a high-impact finance leader who combines strategic thinking with strong execution. Comfortable operating in dynamic, mid-sized environments, you’ll bring a clear sense of pace, ownership, and attention to detail.

Key experience and attributes:

• CFO or Finance Director experience in a growth-oriented SME or mid-market business
• Background in product-led sectors such as retail, distribution, or manufacturing
• Track record of improving financial performance and team effectiveness
• Experience with private equity and/or managing banking relationships
• Strong financial governance and commercial finance capabilities
• Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
• Systems literate—ideally with ERP experience
• Comfortable rolling sleeves up in detail while maintaining strategic oversight
• A proactive, resilient leader who drives continuous improvement
