Description
We are recruiting for a Battery Collection Specialist at our site in Gateshead.
In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for safely carrying out the manual loading and collection of redundant batteries from customer sites as part of a multi-stop collection route on a national level.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently carry out the manual loading of waste batteries at customer sites, with assistance from a driver’s mate when applicable.
- Operate all equipment in accordance with company procedures, performing safety checks before and after use, and promptly reporting any faults or safety concerns.
- Record and report any waste that is not presented at the designated collection point.
- Accurately complete all required compliance documentation in line with the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
- Adhere to ADR regulations for the transport of dangerous goods.
- Operate company vehicles in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Report any near misses, safety, or security incidents occurring at customer or Enva sites.
- Comply with all customer site rules, including health and safety and security protocols.
- Ensure waste is loaded securely and correctly; promptly clean up and report any spillages.
- Inspect the vehicle before departure and report any damage or incidents.
- Follow all company safety rules and comply with current legislation.
- Adhere to Tachograph regulations and all other legal driving requirements.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the assigned vehicle to company standards.
- Represent the company positively and professionally at all times.
- Identify and report any additional customer needs to your line manager.
- Carry out any other duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience and knowledge of EU & WTD Tachograph Regulations.
- Good geographical knowledge of mainland UK.
- A good understanding of Operator Licence obligations and regulations
- Customer focused with experience of managing customer expectations appropriately.
- Flexible in order to meet operational needs when required.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively and to plan and manage own workload accordingly
- Ability to handle complaints effectively, maintaining a solution focussed approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working within waste industry most desirable, however, alternative industries with the relevant experience will be considered.
- ADR (Training can be provided)
