Key responsibilities:

  • Working for the Revenue Department under the direction of the Client Financial Liaison manager, your contribution will ensure that our revenue processes and working capital profile is optimised at all times. The department is responsible for the conversion of work-in-progress to cash. The role will be primarily operational and based within the Revenue Department and include the below responsibilities:
  • Identifying debt issues and escalating to relevant stakeholders
  • Calling clients to chase debt in a professional manner
  • Using the Nexum workflow to ensure timely cash collection
  • Running debt reports
  • Providing commentary on key debts on a weekly basis
  • Alerting management and RHOP's on debt exposure
  • Forming key relationships with clients to enable a smoother debt collection
  • Allocating cash/chaps/bacs payments
  • Forming relationships with partners to assist with debt management
  • Meeting with Krishna to discuss Debt provisions on a quarterly basis
  • Understanding the lock up impact and working to get this down
  • Allocating payments - liaising with members of the Banking team, eBilling and fee-earners to correctly and promptly allocate payments
  • Working with the Revenue Controllers and partners in following up on large and/or problematic clients, including overdue balances
  • Providing breakdowns and reports to internal and external clients as requested (with CRP/Bill Partner approval)
  • Producing and distributing monthly reports for London debtors (with other offices on request)
  • Monitoring external client portals to ensure the bill to payment process can be monitored
  • Liaising with the tax specialists to gather necessary client info such as tax residency certificates or just to confirm tax advice
  • Understand clients billing and collection processes and ensuring that invoices are produced, submitted and collected in a manner
  • which is appropriate for the Firm and client, which facilitates payment with minimum queries and time delay;
  • Ensuring that invoices raised correctly on a timely basis (within the agreed Service Level Agreement) and are paid promptly by the client, escalating any issues immediately.
  • Occasional assistance with internal debt chasing - following up with fee-earners on matters such as car parking invoices
  • Direct contact with clients regarding unpaid invoices via telephone/ email correspondence maintaining records on our internal systems (NEXUM / EXPERT).
  • Liaison with partners and associates regarding queried debts, unpaid invoices
  • Dealing with internal and external queries regarding invoices and the working capital profile.
  • Ad-hoc tasks relating to the reporting and presenting of /WIP/billing/debtor related information. Identify and help to resolve exposures, issues and bottlenecks in the smooth conversion of working capital into cash;
  • Working with key stakeholders by facilitating resolution of complex queries forwarded to the Revenue Section;
  • Maintaining a good understanding of the roles performed by all within the Revenue Department.
  • Liaise with the Revenue Projects Manager to ensure that operational risk is understood and ensuring that training is provided within the department.
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting (where required).
  • Inspire confidence by being able to demonstrate ready knowledge of key working capital exposures and issues.
  • Withholding Tax Compliance (including certification)

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Excellent customer service orientation skills
  • Competent IT skills, good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Suggests new ideas or ways of doing things in a confident, constructive and sensitive way
  • Ability to analyse and interpret revenue data
