Job Title: Export Finance Client Service Manager

Duration: Contract until the end of the year

Location: 8 Canada Square, London – 2 days in the office

Pay Rate: Umbrella: Competitive Rate


Role Purpose:


The jobholder will be part of the Loan Agency Client Services team, which includes Client Service Managers and Associates. The team is responsible for delivering first-class relationship management services to clients involved in syndicated loan transactions across various sectors, including Project Finance, Export Finance, Real Estate, Leveraged Acquisition, and Corporate Finance.


The jobholder will specifically work within a team dedicated to performing the role of Facility Agent on Export (ECA) Finance syndicated loans and account bank. This involves managing relationships with HSBC group clients, third-party lenders, exporters, advisors, and global Export Credit Agencies.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Act as Facility Agent, Intercreditor Agent, and Account Bank across an assigned portfolio of Project and Infrastructure Finance syndicated loan, account bank, project bond transactions and or Export Finance transactions.
  • Liaise with Export Credit Agencies as required in their capacity as Export Credit Agency Agent under any policy or insurance related to covered facilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams from mandate to professionally onboard, execute, close and fund deals,
  • Flag and resolve potential operational issues are in advance of closing.
  • Act as an advocate for the client within HSBC.
  • Ensure ‘treating customers fairly’ principles are always adhered to.
  • Fully oversee end to end deal lifecycle from mandate to final repayment/maturity as applicable.
  • Manage amendments, waivers and consent with internal and external parties (including client, lenders and counsel);
  • Focus on pricing for out-of-scope events and opportunities to reprice on refinances and on amendment events.
  • Advise and guide junior members of the team and offshore operations team where required, and act as an escalation point for local management.
  • Develop strong client relationship to seek out both retentive and new business opportunities. With Product teams in Global Banking and markets and commercial banking
  • Collaborate effectively with Internal colleagues in WCL, MSS and other operational support functions globally.
  • Manage and build relationships with external clients, lawyers, arrangers, borrowers, issuers, sponsors, and lenders.
  • Adhere to an annual client visitation plan and solicit regular client feedback.
  • Escalate issues including problem/defaulted deals.
  • Manage the non-operational aspects of assigned portfolio.
  • Review requirements of contracts against drawdown notices and check any ECA reporting as required,
  • Strong risk management understanding, with a view of reducing the risk profile of ISV.
  • Ad-hoc project or investigative work to provide process and control analysis as requested by senior management.
  • Function as escalation point for all client and lender issues, owning any action plans to resolve performance issues.
  • Understand risk control matters, identify improvements, and implement solutions.
  • Identify process/technology improvements for clients that will benefit client experience.


Knowledge & Experience


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a comparable role, with a strong understanding of the Syndicated Loan Market with a focus on Export Finance/ECA financing.
  • Knowledge of Project and Infrastructure Finance would be advantageous.
  • Some previous credit experience is desirable.
  • An understanding of syndicated loan documentation
  • Client focussed, with a proven record of commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Good communicator, both written and verbally.
  • Able to work in a pressurised environment and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong time management and presentation skills.
