What Will I be Doing?

As a Commercial Accountant, you will establish a strong relationship with the company’s Finance & Sales departments, providing those departments with high quality, robust sales-based financial information, support and expertise. As a key member of the Finance team you will also be expected to assist in implementing the Company’s strategy to ensure the sustained, profitable growth of the organisation.

Specific duties include:

Commercial Accounts (Thatchers Cider Ltd):

  • Analysis of Profitability (RAG Report).
  • Analysis of sales for Brand and Package Format (Sales Reports).
  • Reconciliation of retro invoices.
  • Calculation and review of monthly Retro, Customer Support and Cellar Service accruals.
  • Regular review with Sales team to ensure profitability and suitability of Retro & Customer Support accruals.
  • Data Analysis Support to the Sales Director & Senior Managers.

Pricing:

  • Pricing updates (annual & duty-related) & promotional entry onto Nav.
  • Pricing of Export proforma invoices.
  • Control of all pricing (regular and ad-hoc) to ensure profitability maintained.
  • Promotional controls to ensure compliance.

Management Accounts (Thatchers Railway Inn Ltd):

  • Production of management accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Review core transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance, AP, AR, Cashbook etc.
  • Analytical review for presentation to the Finance Director.
  • Production of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reconciliation of group intercompany accounts.

Other Duties:

  • Calculate and submit monthly alcohol duty return to HMRC.
  • Assist in the Budget production and review process.
  • Cover for calculation of all product standard costings.
  • Assist in audit planning and production of audit schedules.
  • Key point of contact for external auditors.
  • Collate and provide accurate information as necessary in order to aid sound decision making.
  • Loading of BACS payments & deductions from AP/AR.
  • Raising of statutory payments as advised, Duty, VAT, Corporation Tax etc.

What Skills do I Need?

  • ACCA/CIMA qualification
  • Relevant budgeting, forecasting experience
  • Previous experience of preparing management accounts for a similar sized business
  • Ability to develop and cement relationships quickly and effectively
  • Computer literate in Microsoft programs (i.e. Word and Excel)
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards

What are we Looking for?

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering system improvements, producing accurate and

detailed reports on time to tight deadlines

  • People management experience
  • Experience of coaching and/or mentoring junior team members
  • Experience of budget setting, budget comparison and forecasting
  • Experience of Microsoft Dynamics & Power BI
