The Compliance Assistant Manager will take care of multiple tasks across the Compliance spectrum. Primary focus are tasks related to the Hines Luxembourg and European compliance program. This includes maintenance and execution of monitoring, reporting and advice in relation to the Hines AIFM as well as across European investment structures (regulated and non-regulated). Aside from that, responsibilities also include support for Compliance tasks for the Compliance team across Europe and Asia. The Compliance Assistant Manager will work closely with the Luxembourg Compliance Director as well as the Hines Europe/Asia Compliance teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in analyzing new and upcoming regulatory developments for Luxembourg as well as broader Europe.
- Prepare compliance and AML reports, questionnaires and other regulatory reports for regulated and unregulated structures: Luxembourg (AIFM, Ch 16 Management Companies, regulated funds and unregulated structures), UK (FCA authorized investment advisory operations) and other jurisdiction requirements.
- Provide support to third parties during internal and external audits.
- Maintain up to date internal Compliance databases.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and both internal and external advisors.
- Support the Hines Global Anti-Financial Crime Compliance Team and the Luxembourg Compliance Director in analyzing KYC documents, undertaking counterparty due diligence, to assist preparing asset risk profiles, anti-money laundering risk assessments and internal reporting.
- Carry out conflicts of interest checks for new business and ensure the conflicts register is accurate and complete.
- Assist with other Compliance tasks on an ad-hoc basis like for example queries on personal account dealing, outside business activities, gifts/meals/entertainment approval, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- A minimum of three years of compliance experience, preferably Luxembourg and/or European regulatory experience in the investment management or investment funds industry, Alternative Asset class. Real Estate experience a definite bonus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, French, German or Italian language skills beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills, know how and when to leverage the knowledge and expertise of colleagues, and be able motivate more senior colleagues to meet their compliance obligations.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Energetic and keen to learn.
- Well organized and keen to meet deadlines.
- Good knowledge of MS Office products, very good knowledge of MS Excel.
