The EMEA Data Center Construction team is looking for a Construction Manager with a strong bias in quality to work with our construction managers and improve quality across all of our construction
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Construction Manager with a strong bias in quality to help develop and scale quality control processes and standards throughout our data centres builds across EMEA. Responsible for ensuring adherence to AWS quality standards in the delivery of fast paced construction projects.
If you have experience driving quality control processes, improvement programs and standards, reviewing quality plans and other associated quality documents, and working in the construction infrastructure environment, then this could be your role!
Key job responsibilities
Implement, review and drive the implementation of ‘quality’ by assessing our General Contractors quality plans against AWS quality standards and their subsequent adherence to their plan.
- Develop and implement QA/QC systems, AWS Quality Standards, requirements, policies, procedures.
- Establish and implement a standardized review processes for Quality Plans.
- Oversee and develop a quality implementation plan
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of all QA/QC activities, including inspection reports, test results, non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and project handover documentation.
- Create and maintain performance dashboards and KPIs to measure program effectiveness. Evaluate and monitor the quality performance of suppliers and contractors ensuring they meet the required quality standards
- Plan and conduct internal audits of the quality management on site to ensure compliance and identify areas of improvement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for quality matters with CMs, general contractors, safety engineers, legal and partner teams.
- Build and maintain strategic vendor relationships, including developing vendor KPIs and performance metrics.
- Drive process improvements through data analysis and stakeholder feedback.
- Lead regular executive updates and cross-functional team communication.
- Attend contractor award Kick-off meetings to ensure mutual understanding of the Quality Control program.
- You will insist on the highest standards from self and others and drive accountability for results, leading externals and, potentially, internals, including coaching.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, Construction management or a related field.
- 8+ years' experience working in quality assurance/quality control within the construction industry.
- Thorough understanding of construction methods and processes. Experience in mission critical facilities is preferred.
- General contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders) associated with construction and project execution.
- Ability to travel -/+30% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large scale technical operations, mission-critical mechanical/electrical infrastructure, or large-scale compute farms.
