Solar Construction Project Manager – 24 month Fixed Term Contract
We have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Solar Construction Project Manager to join our Award Winning Property Team. In this fixed term role for a c2 year basis, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of the annual M&B Solar PV rollout on a nationwide basis.
The drivers of this programme are that it will be delivered safely and to the approved budget, always adhering to the correct quality and capacity, and finally on time to the agreed programme.
This is a mobile role, known internally as a Solar Development Manager and where you will be required to travel across our Estate on a nationwide basis, with travel required on occasion to our Head Office in Birmingham City Centre.

What will I be doing…?
Key Responsibilities include;
Regulatory
Throughout all processes associated with the Solar development plan;
- Ensure all appropriate legal and statutory permissions are secured prior to executing any development work.
- Direct and control health, safety and welfare matters associated with the Solar installation programme to ensure the safety always of consultants, contractors, suppliers, Team members and guests.
Management and Delivery
- Work with appointed external consultants and contractors, in developing the annual Solar capital expenditure budget.
- Personally assess and advise on the need for ancillary works e.g. roof structure, scaffold, tree works, etc. which add to template project cost, with site visit/survey as necessary.
- Evaluate installation data on a weekly basis.
- Manage and lead with direct line management responsibility the external consultants, suppliers and contractors in ensuring that they adhere to company and department processes.
- Manage the delivery of Solar Investment Plan within budget, to the correct quality and capacity, and within programme for the Group.
- Work to ensure all projects are delivered to time and are defect free. Where problems are anticipated ensure that these are communicated to relevant parties in a timely manner.
- Ensure the successful delivery of the Solar projects post start on site through to handover and closedown.
- Deliver an Integrated Plan to ensure cohesion between the Solar Programme and any planned Capital Projects.
- Oversee and monitor on a regular basis consumption data as received at site level and ensure proactive management of solar output of forecast v actual
- Ensure a pipeline of sites identified for Solar investment to support Sustainability/Net Zero programme
Cost Management
- Manage the overall annual Solar Capital Budget
- Ensure that any costs variations to budget are accurately forecast to enable efficient cost management and any additional approvals obtained prior to commencement of work.
- Ensure consistency is achieved of cost management.

Qualifications:
• Professionally qualified in a relevant area of expertise is desirable
