Job Description
McGinley are seeking an experienced
Site Chargehand to lead a construction gang in the delivery of high-quality cycle paths. This role requires hands-on leadership, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. You will be responsible for coordinating a small team, managing daily site activities, and liaising with site managers to ensure project deadlines are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead a team.
- Oversee the installation of cycle paths, including excavation, drainage, kerbing, and surfacing.
- Ensure work is completed in line with project specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Coordinate materials, plant, and equipment to maintain productivity.
- Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Liaise with engineers, site managers, and other contractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Identify and resolve on-site challenges to keep the project on track.
- Maintain accurate records of work progress, materials used, and workforce hours.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Site Chargehand, Foreman, or Lead Groundworker.
- Strong background in civils, groundworks, drainage, kerbing, and tarmac laying.
- Ability to read and interpret site drawings and specifications.
- Gold CSCS Card (or relevant supervisory qualification).
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification (preferred).
- First Aid at Work certification (desirable).
- Experience operating or supervising plant machinery (dumper, roller, excavator) is an advantage.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
