- The post holder will be based at Royal Preston Hospital, although some sessions may have to be performed at Chorley depending on the needs of the trust.
- Appropriate travelling allowances will be paid.
- The departments of cardiology across both Preston and Chorley Hospital are closely integrated.
- The post holder will initially be appointed for 10 programmed activities (PA)
- The post holder will be on call for temporary pacing and pericardiocentesis on a 1 to 6 rota in line with the national requirements.
- The Trust will be moving forward to a 7-day services in due course. The post holder should expect to participate in a 7-day service when this comes into place. This will be agreed separately when the need arises.

The Department of Cardiology sits within the Division of Emergency and General Medicine. This consists of Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Stroke and Medicine for the Elderly. These units are very well developed, and there is a close link with a Tertiary Division of Renal Medicine and Neurology. Medical Assessment Units and Emergency Decisions Unit exist at both sites.
