Controls Engineering Lead

We’re looking for a
Controls Engineering Lead to manage and develop a high-performing team of controls engineers. You’ll deliver bespoke automation and controls solutions across high-profile projects, while helping shape standards and drive innovation within our Design Engineering strand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical delivery of automation and controls solutions across the business.
- Develop and maintain robust engineering standards and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency and innovation through automation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support in-house manufacturing and reliability.
- Drive capability, training, and development of your team.
- Champion a positive, forward-thinking engineering culture aligned with RM’s values.
About You
A confident leader who can inspire technical excellence, manage complex projects, and foster innovation. You’ll be a key player in shaping the future of engineering at Royal Mail.
- Minimum Level 4 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in Controls & Automation Engineering
- Strong background in engineering design and problem-solving
- Experience in automated product design and development (preferred)
- Proficient in multiple programming languages
- Ability to meet deadlines and quality standards under pressure
- Self-starter with strong team collaboration skills
- Proven track record of delivering improvements in challenging environments
This is a national role and will require regular travel across our projects and sites throughout the UK. Flexibility to travel as required is essential.
