Location: London / Hybrid Working

(Expectation that you will attend an office 2 days per week)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week/flexible days and/or hours (Mon-Fri)

Salary: From £43,575 - £51,975 Depending on experience

  • The Role


    We are recruiting for a Corporate Communications Manager to work in our award winning Communications Team.


    Reporting to the Senior Corporate Communications Manager, this role is responsible and accountable for supporting the day-to-day delivery of external communications for the British Business Bank and British Business Investments equity programmes.


    The primary purpose of this role is to support the Bank’s strategic objectives by communicating its mission to support the UK’s smaller businesses to prosper and grow, by building, managing, and protecting the reputation of the Bank. The role will take the lead on all communications specific to the Bank’s equity programmes, including the Enterprise Capital Funds programme, Regional Angels Programme, Long-term Investment For Technology and Science (LIFTS) initiative, British Business Investments Investment Programme and Future Fund.


    As a high-profile, prestigious organisation at the forefront of the government’s efforts to provide information about these equity programme’s, good communications are vitally important for the British Business Bank, especially as it embarks on a period of high-growth. High-quality external communications help to light the way for smaller businesses, while proving delivery to enhance the organisation’s reputation. The role being offered provides an exciting opportunity to join a busy team working in a fast-paced and constantly developing environment. The British Business Bank’s Communication team and its work regularly is nominated for or wins industry awards.

    To be considered for this role you must have previous public relations, media relations and corporate communications experience gained either in-house (private or public sector) or in agency.


    You will have excellent communication skills to enable business strategy and commercial objectives to be communicated with media and other stakeholders along with demonstrable experience advising senior leaders and company spokespeople to build brand equity.

    Experience working on external communications programmes along with media engagement handling in-bound media enquiries from national and business journalists is essential.

    You will have a good understanding of the current political and economic environment as well as experience or knowledge of the small business landscape and business support infrastructure.

    Experience or knowledge of the investment, or financial services sectors would be highly desirable as you having an understanding of integrated communications campaigns to support and advance communications objectives.


    You will also have strong Microsoft Office skills with the ability to analyse complex data and other material to produce meaningful, easily understood communications
