EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We are looking for a Credit & Risk Manager to join our Commercial performance function, Reporting into the Debt, Data and Strategy Lead with responsibility for managing the credit strategy of Severn Trent here in Shrewsbury. The role will focus on identifying, analysing, and mitigating credit risks associated within the water sector and requires in depth knowledge of the utility market, credit risk frameworks and the regulatory environment.

The Credit & Risk Manager will also have responsibility for the technical delivery of our strategy plan including robust forecasting and adherence to the plan, ensuring that financial, planning and forecasting best practice is followed to ensure that we meet our in-plan commitments.

This role is a critical part of the management team and as such will be relied upon to present material risks to senior stakeholders to ensure the appropriate management and escalation of response is triggered and handled with the urgency required.

We are looking for someone to act on strategical direction but also be able to manage staff and create a strong culture of engaged and motivated people whilst holding a strong understands the dynamics that play into not just value and cost but also customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

You will be expected to deliver and monitor the effectiveness of the credit strategies to ensure our performance of water collection charges, cash collection and volumes of unbilled properties brought into charge.

This includes finding effective ways to deliver our social tariff strategy to the right customers and working with the operation to ensure delivery. Whilst actively maintaining knowledge of all regulatory/financial control responsibilities, relevant legislation and market innovation to ensure necessary operating standards; continued excellence and maximised debt collection.

Delivery against all Key Performance Indicators is crucial with particular focus on customer experience (supporting delivery of No1 Customer Service ambition) and operational effectiveness against stretching budgets.

Some of the Key accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Monitor and control regulatory commitments to protect brand, reputation and license to trade including proactive management of relevant risk registers with necessary focus on protection of customer data at all times (especially when dealing with external suppliers)
  • Work with business owners to ensure strategy supports effective resource utilisation to ensure delivery across all business areas and channels. Create highly effective engagement and buy into strategies through clear vision and expectations.
  • Effective management of key metrics to give transparent view of debt performance with relevant analysis/insight to identify focus areas and improvement strategies.
