Salary: £37,300 -£39,911
Allowances: Shift working allowance of 37.75% of annual salary. Recruitment and retention allowance of up to £5000 for candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills and experience

This is a shift-based role which involves working from 07:00-19:00 (Days) and 19:00-07:00 (Nights) on a 4 on / 4 off basis. Due to business requirements, this role is only available full-time.

Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) enables the Home Office to keep citizens safe and the country secure, as well as at the front line of making the Home Office a modern and capable department at a time of unprecedented global change.
The role of a Tier 1 Analyst is to collect and analyse security event data from across the organisation, refine and improve alerting rules, and investigate indicators of potentially malicious activity. Escalating incidents or initiating appropriate responses when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, triage, and investigate security alerts to identify and escalate incidents.
- Support the assessment and communication of emerging technologies and their impact.
- Collaborate across government using specialist tools for vulnerability assessment and system validation.
- Contribute to the monitoring roadmap and help develop automated detection processes using SIEM and network analysis tools.
- Assist in vulnerability management and remediation, while continuously seeking service improvements and building cyber security expertise.
As a Tier 1 Analyst, you’ll have a demonstrable passion for Cyber Security with the following skills or some experience in:
- Cyber risk and controls frameworks, vulnerability research, malware analysis and exploit investigation and/or working in a ‘Security Operations Centre’.
- Knowledge of common threat analysis models and frameworks.
- Communicating in a verbal and written manner, and a good understanding of the use of different channels and formats for different audiences.
- Producing high-quality outputs such as reports, process documentation and templates in a timely manner and in a language that is suitable for the intended audience.
- Working within defined processes or project plans.
- Building partnerships with peers across an organisation, 3rd party suppliers, and other teams.
Candidates must hold or be prepared to undergo SC and NPPV3 clearance.
