Your Role
As a key member of our team, the Dangerous Goods Safety (DGSA) will be responsible for ensuring and assuring compliance to legislations, regulation, policy and contractual requirements, as well as the above you will act as business unit Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) ensuring and assuring compliance to legislations, regulation, policy and contractual requirements. This is a key role across the business and as Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor you will be expected to provide specialist advice to Management and Operations on Compliance with legislation and policy affecting the storage and transport of hazardous substances, articles and radiological protection
Your Responsibilities
- To act as the branches Office and Warehouse Dangerous Goods Supervisor for the contract
- To monitor and provide assurance that Dangerous Goods/Radiation Process and legislation are adhered to on the Contract through the audit and inspection programmes.
- Provide on-going support to the operational team and the wider Team to improve the standards of the Dangerous Goods and Radiation regulations and achieve defined levels of compliance.
- Report Dangerous Goods performance against BU targets to QSHE Senior Management.
- Maintain the contract and customers Statutory procedures for compliance to the requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods by road, rail, sea and air, including identification of all hazardous goods, and checking equipment and documentation.
- Implement and monitor procedures to ensure compliance to Radiological protection and reporting requirements.
- Liaising with customers’ auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications.
- Provide the quarterly Radioactive Source List as required by MOD Radiological Regulator
- Ensure the specified limits of the REPPIR 2019 are not exceeded and provide the annual return to MOD Radiological Regulator for Radioactive sources.
- Ensure Operational Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS) are appointed, suitably trained able to carry out the duties held.
- Monitor Dosimetry process and review results.
- Ensure calibration and repair of radiation monitoring equipment.
- Maintain thorough understanding of authority process from JSP392 Management of Radiation Protection in Defence.
- Ensure local process and procedures are continually reviewed and updated as required.
- Deliver Dangerous Goods Training.
Your Skills And Experiences
- Must be SQA Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) Qualified
- Must have Radiation Safety Qualification or awareness to enable training
- IOSH Managing Safety (Required)
- NEBOSH NGC (Desirable)
- Advantageous for successful candidate to have Audit Experience
- Quality Standards Awareness (Desirable)
- Previous experience working in a Aviation, MOD or Automotive or similar industry experience would be advantageous
