Are you passionate about data-driven insights that drive strategic impact? Howden Markets is looking for a talented Data & Insights Analyst to join our dynamic London-based team and play a key role in shaping our service delivery to executive internal stakeholders and the global (re)insurance market.

In this pivotal role, you will report directly to the Head of Data & Analytics, working alongside our two other analysts to craft and deliver exceptional analytics solutions. Your insights will empower strategic decision-making and optimize business operations, ensuring Howden Markets remains at the forefront of innovation and excellence.

It powers intelligent decision-making, drives operational excellence, and shapes our service offering as we continue to build and scale. As a Data & Insights Analyst, you will:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver market-leading insights across Howden group's portfolio.
  • Work closely with Market Management and Group Placement, the two revenue generating business functions within Howden Markets, ensuring that analytics unlock new opportunities and optimise efficiencies.
  • Lead innovation within our skilled analytics team, building capabilities that drive growth, efficiency, and enhanced service delivery.
  • Develop, design and embed cutting-edge visual tools that transform complex data into actionable insights, enhancing strategic decision-making.
  • Play an instrumental role in standardising best practices, optimising processes, and creating impactful data strategies.

Please note this is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days a week in our City of London office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Data & Analytics by championing and executing the Howden Markets data strategy, ensuring alignment to overall business goals.
  • Identify opportunities and challenge the norms to develop and maintain high quality reports and dashboards in Power BI and Excel, supporting business decisions for Howden Markets, our internal business stakeholders and our insurer clients.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights relevant to clients and the wider Howden business. Build reports to monitor the performance of placement solutions (e.g. Howden facilities and competitive panels), and Howden-insurer portfolios.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to collect, refine and document report requirements, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Be a subject matter expert in Howden Markets data, serving as a key point of contact for the team to ask questions and raise concerns.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to automate manual operational processes, enhancing efficiency and productivity.
  • Create and maintain documentation of all reports and analysis, ensuring accessibility and transparency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and collaborators (e.g. Group Data, Howden Markets functions, other analytics experts in Howden) fostering teamwork and cooperation.
  • Support the exploration of emerging AI platforms and opportunities to shape and enhance the team's AI strategy, driving innovation and informed decision-making.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Advanced Power BI, Power Query and Excel skills.
  • 2+ years of insurance market experience required.
  • Experience in London Market insurance preferred.
  • Experience in a Power BI equivalent tool e.g. Tableau or Qlik deemed relevant
  • Experience in analysing large datasets to assess performance-related KPIs.
  • Experience in VBA preferred but not essential.
  • Technically relevant or industry recognised qualifications are a plus (e.g. CII, Microsoft Certifications etc.)
  • Experience in SQL and Databricks considered a plus

  • Analytically minded and a good problem solver. Confident in taking on new challenges independently.
  • A desire for knowledge and an aspiration to learn the intricacies of the insurance industry.
  • Curious and collaborative in nature, with great interpersonal skills.
  • Confident in engaging with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with excellent planning, prioritisation and time management skills
