Position
We are seeking a talented and proactive Data Scientist to join our dynamic Data Team. In this role, you will work on the design, development, and deployment of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions that power our unified data platform and DaaS offerings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to uncover insights, build predictive models, and contribute to scalable data products that drive business value for our clients.
Your key responsibilities
- Develop and deploy predictive models and machine learning algorithms to support core insurance business functions (e.g. underwriting, pricing, fraud detection, claims).
- Partner with data engineers and platform architects to design and enhance the unified data platform and DaaS infrastructure.
- Analyse large, complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
- Build reusable data science assets and pipelines to support productised analytics and reporting.
- Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand data needs and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Contribute to the development of data governance, quality, and compliance frameworks.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data science, AI, and insurance analytics.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
Experience
- Proven experience in a Data Scientist role, ideally within insurance, financial services, or a related domain.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and relevant data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, pandas, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data ecosystems (e.g., data lakes, lakehouses).
- Experience with API development (e.g. FastAPI, Flask).
- Familiarity with Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) concepts and architectures.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data pipeline development.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex findings in a clear, actionable manner.

Please note, this is a hybrid role requiring in-office attendance at our Winchester or Worcester office twice a week, therefore we are looking initally for candidates who live within a 50 mile radius of one of these offices.
