Description

Synechron is looking for an experienced DB2 LUW System Database Administrator to work on a long term programme of work for a well known financial, global institution. The role provides primary system DBA support for DB2 LUW database platforms, in support of multiple business and country units.


Working on rotation with a US counterpart, the role covers UK hours with alternate weeks on 24/7 call (infrequent out of hours issues predicted).


ROLE:

  • Responsible for DBA administrative activities
  • Participate in physical design, creation, and maintenance of databases
  • Apply table and view modifications
  • Monitor and tune database performance
  • Consult in design of efficient tables and indexes
  • Provide recovery of databases as necessary
  • Maintain security of databases by granting and revoking of privileges
  • Carry out entitlement reviews at the request of business units or GTS
  • Utilise Database Utilities for the DBMS


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 or more years technical support experience in DB2 LUW Distributed databases on Linux
  • Experience with DB2, TOAD, BMC/CDB, IBM Utilities, and Linux
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and technical knowledge
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Flexibility to work on call, alternate weeks
