Design Assurance Technician - 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

We’re looking for an exceptional Design Assurance Technician to join our Instrument and Consumables Development Team, based in Cambridge. Reporting to the Design Assurance Group Lead. This position will play a key role in carrying out Life testing of components and providing support for the delivery of Design Assurance activities.

This role is office based at our Cambridge site.

Responsibilities

• Life testing and design verification of Instruments and Consumables following pre-defined instructions and using a variety of custom and standard test equipment.
• Maintaining records of work and writing test reports and other documentation.
• Monitoring and reporting test progress to the Design Assurance Lead and Task managers, as required.
• Identifying and helping develop process improvements to streamline test activities.
• Contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
• Building test jigs and fixtures.
• Stocktaking and maintenance of lab inventory levels.
• Ensuring best practice in lab space.

We’d expect you to be willing to turn your hand to anything that helps CMR deliver its objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have/be:

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• A can-do attitude for a variety of tasks.
• The ability to keep accurate records, e.g. serial numbers, test reports, etc.
• Familiarity with using measurement and test equipment.
• Keeping labs stocked with components and tools, and ensuring labs are kept tidy.
• Management and maintenance of test and measurement equipment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel.
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Understands the importance of collaboration and works closely together with peers and team to ensure effective work outcomes.
• Understands the need for effective communications and works to ensure messages are clear and understood by other stakeholders in the business.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical/ electronic drawings and to follow these to assemble the required product or test rig.

Qualifications And Experience

• Proven practical experience of high-tech assembly and test (preferably within a regulated environment such as medical/pharmaceutical, automotive or aerospace).
• Knowledge of Lab H&S and good lab working practice
• HNC / ONC or relevant NVQ / BTEC qualification
• Good written English is essential, as is the ability to use Microsoft Office suite tools, including Excel.
