The role

We are currently recruiting for a Development Manager to join our development business. Reporting to the Development Director, the Development Manager will be responsible for the vision, viability, and maximising the value of a development through inception and design stages.

What will you do?

• Develop and execute on the vision and placemaking principles for a project
• Build, maintain and leverage relationships with stakeholders to unlock value (eg investors, landowners, planning authorities, local communities etc)
• Maximise value through a masterplan or plot design and development process, using cost and value drivers
• Manage and participate in negotiating 3rd party agreements (including land agreement, S106 etc)
• Manage legal processes (eg land agreements, JV agreements, planning agreements, etc)
• Obtain the necessary planning, legal, financial, and 3rd party consents
• Manage the commercial assessment/development appraisal and planning Financial Viability Assessments, including ownership of key inputs and value drivers
• Manage improvement of project outcomes through application of latest market trends
• Procure, brief, appoint and effectively lead consultant teams
• Oversee the preparation and execution of sales, leasing, and disposal strategies
• Ownership as client of Health & Safety Management including satisfying all statutory responsibilities
• Ownership of our sustainability goals and applying them to development process to drive absolute zero carbon agenda
• Oversee the identification and mitigation of development risks
  
  
  

You will bring

• Demonstrable experience of managing development vision and outcomes in large scale urban regeneration projects and demonstrable understanding of development processes
• Experience of supporting meaningful and inclusive community engagement processes on contentious development schemes
• Commercial acumen and negotiation skills
• Proven exposure to managing 3rd party stakeholders
• An understanding and appreciation of the contractual relationships between parties (land owners, local authority, tenants, funders and banks)
• A desire to think beyond physical transformation and drive socio economic improvements for local communities
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Strong people management and issue resolution skills, including the ability to upwardly manage Clients. Partners and Stakeholders, motivate and manage internal and external project teams, and delegate
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (eg property, engineering, architecture, or construction etc)
• A passion for cities and placemaking
