Description

McLaughlin & Harvey, Digital Contractor of the Year 2024, are one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland. We are seeking to recruit a Digital Construction Coordinator to join our award-winning team.


Our Digital Construction Department are responsible for information management in accordance with ISO19650, using Building Information Modelling (BIM) to create Project Information Models during the design and construct stages, and handover of Asset Information Models to the end users. We work to industry standards, methods, and procedures, using appropriate digital technologies to ensure excellence in our BIM/Digital practices.


Responsibilities

The Digital Construction Coordinator plays a vital role in driving McLaughlin & Harvey’s digital construction strategy to support Pre-Construction, Operations and R&D activities on Building and Civil Engineering projects.


Pre-Construction

  • Assist Pre-Construction Manager to assess /de-risk and cost BIM/Digital requirements
  • Liaise with consultants and supply chain to assess their BIM/Digital capability and capacity
  • Assist the tender submission team by authoring responses on BIM/Digital for PQQs / Tenders


Operations / Delivery

  • Liaise with the client to confirm their exchange information requirements (EIR)
  • Assist the commercial team on the appointment of consultants and supply chain as required
  • Liaise with the client to confirm the project’s information standards and the project’s information production methods and procedures and incorporate these into Mclaughlin & Harvey’s BIM execution plan (BEP) & discipline specific EIRs as required
  • Take the lead on establishing, managing and maintaining Mclaughlin & Harvey’s CDE on live projects
  • Act as lead on model management & clash analysis on live projects
  • Lead on delivery of Asset Information Model & COBie data on live projects
  • Undertake Quality Assurance reviews on Information Models (geometry, data & documents).
  • Report on progress, status and quality of Information Models on live projects to ensure compliance with the employer’s requirements
  • Lead on implementation of Digital Technologies on site such as Laser Scanning, Augmented and Mixed Reality, 360 photogrammetry and site printers


Digital innovation

  • Assist in maintaining McL&H certification for BS EN ISO 19650 (BIM)
  • Research, test and procure appropriate hardware and software for use on projects
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Digital Construction Strategy
  • Actively promote the use of digital technologies internally within McLaughlin & Harvey
  • Develop and deliver training / CPD sessions on BIM internally within McLaughlin & Harvey


Qualifications

Essential

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in architecture, engineering or construction


Desirable

  • Degree level qualification in architecture, engineering or construction


Experience

Essential

The Digital Construction Coordinator will be required to demonstrate their knowledge on the implementation of BIM in the UK using the framework provided by BS EN ISO 19650 series.

You will have previous experience of the following:

  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Revit
  • Clash Detection


You will possess the following skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong IT and creative presentation skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict timescales
  • Time management and prioritising workload
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Team player


Desirable

Previous experience in the use of:

  • Solibri Office
  • Industry Foundation Classification (IFC) schema
  • Common Data Environment Technological solution(s), e.g., Viewpoint For Projects
  • Power BI
  • Morta
  • COBie 2.4*


*training will be provided on McLaughlin & Harvey processes for the delivery of COBie data using IFC step process.


The role will be based at our office in Belfast, however on occasions there may be the need to travel to our other offices and live sites throughout the UK & Ireland.
