Director (Construction)
Daniel Owen are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Director to lead the launch and strategic growth of a new tiling business within the construction industry. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a specialist subcontracting company from the ground up, backed by a well-established group.
Location: Nottingham
Position: Director
Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum + Car/ Car allowance + Package
Contract Type: Permanent
Start date: Immediately available
Role Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the business strategy, driving operational excellence, and securing a strong position in the market. You will take full ownership of company performance, from tendering through to project delivery and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the business plan, commercial strategy, and operational framework
- Build strong relationships with main contractors, developers, and key supply chain partners
- Lead the tendering, estimating, and delivery of tiling packages across a range of sectors
- Ensure all projects meet high standards of quality, health and safety, and client expectations
- Recruit, lead, and mentor a growing team as the business scales
- Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and report to the board
- Identify and pursue growth opportunities in both commercial and residential markets
Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership experience within the construction or specialist subcontracting sector (tiling experience advantageous but not essential)
- Strong commercial and operational background with a track record of delivering profitable projects
- In-depth understanding of construction processes, site operations, and subcontractor management
- Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and a hands-on approach to business development
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience growing or running a business is highly desirable
