Job Description:
Role Summary
The EMEA client team at Russell is responsible for working with clients and prospects in the EMEA Institutional and Retail market (B to B to C), across a range of services. The Director would be responsible for communicating performance and other investment information to their portfolio of institutional clients and developing client relationships to build Russell’s business. The emphasis is on protecting client revenue, but equally importantly on expanding each client relationship across a broad range of Russell services – funds management, implementation services and fiduciary management.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
Regulatory & Business conduct

- Effectively and collaboratively identifying, escalating, mitigating and resolving risk, conduct and compliance.
Client Retention
- Retention of existing client AUM and revenue.
- Communicating with a portfolio of Institutional and retail clients on all aspects of their relationship with Russell.
- Building strong relationships with clients through regular meetings and social events.
Business Development
- Developing new business across Russell’s services from existing clients.
- Supporting the efforts across the EMEA Client Team to protect revenue and grow the business across a range of services.
- Contributing towards the growth in our offering to insurance clients.
Business Strategy
- Carrying out client strategy and business planning to retain and build new revenue.
- Leading and assisting on project work to further develop business opportunities.
Team Strategy
- Assisting the Head of EMEA Client Team with team management, strategy and recruitment
Team development
- In due course, acting as line manager to subset of EMEA Client Team.
- Developing the junior team members.
- Acting as a mentor to junior members of the team.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
- CFA Charterholders or fully qualified actuaries will be preferred.
- Relevant BSC/BA or equivalent qualification / experience.
- Significant experience in the financial services/investment industry of which significant experience will be in UK Pension Fund industry.
- Experience with managing a broad range of clients.
- Able to communicate effectively and knowledgeably with both colleagues and prospective clients.
- Highly polished communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.
- Close working knowledge of the practical needs and experiences of asset owners, present and future, of the EMEA institutional marketplace.
- Working knowledge of retail platforms / distribution beneficial.
- Good knowledge and understanding of all major asset classes, with the ability to articulate investment processes knowledgeably and credibly
