The role
The Director, Group Operations is a strategic leadership role focused on transforming and optimising operations to meet the evolving needs of SJP’s Partners and clients. This role ensures the delivery of efficient, compliant, and high-quality services while leading operational functions supporting clients and Partners. This includes customer-facing operations, and managing key external outsourcing partnerships to drive excellent client outcomes.
What you'll be doing:
In this role, you will partner with the executive team to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business goals, translating strategic objectives into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
You’ll lead and develop a high-performing operations team to deliver efficient and scalable processes building a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement
Key Accountabilities
- Transform end to end operations to deliver excellent customer outcomes, with robust, simple and reliable processes that clients, the partnership and employees trust.
- Oversee the outsourced administration to ensure efficiency, accuracy and compliance to SLAs and regulation.
- Work with Procurement, deliver an exceptional commercial outcome whilst evaluating continuous improvement activity driving improvements for clients and Partners.
- Oversee the handling of regulated complaints in line with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including treating clients fairly
- Use data from customer complaints to identify root causes and lead initiatives for long-term improvements in processes and service quality.
- Ensure that all confirmations, payments, settlements, client money and other similar matters are processed in a timely manner and in line with SJP policies and procedures
- Lead Business Continuity and Operational Resilience across the Group including acting as Contingency Director
- Oversee the Group’s Business Continuity Policy and framework, ensuring they are robust, up-to-date, and effectively tested. Ensure recovery capabilities of critical suppliers are regularly assessed.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide assurance and relevant information to the Board and key stakeholders regarding business continuity and operational resilience
- Oversee the leadership of the SJPWM's partner remuneration team which provides complete and comprehensive delivery of all SJP Partner remuneration activities
- Oversee the leadership of the Group's Investment Operations team which provides Middle Office and Fund Accounting oversight alongside Third Party Management and support for all operational aspects of Fund launches and change events. Execute a forward thinking strategy, robust governance framework and optimised model.
- Delegated responsibilities from Senior Manager (SMF24) - There will be a range of formally delegated SMCR responsibilities from the SMF24 (Chief Operations) for different Group entities.
- Consumer Duty considerations - This role is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the Group’s operations including Customer facing operations and is therefore critical in underpinning and enabling good client outcomes at SJP. In particular, the role is a key enabler to the consumer understanding and consumer support outcomes underpinning FCA Principle 12.

We’re looking for a strategic leader with extensive experience leading a diverse range of operations functions to drive a positive culture.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in overseeing and leading large operational functions, especially with significant outsourcing, with a working knowledge of relevant financial services regulation and requirements as well as SJP’s product and service proposition.
- In depth knowledge of Customer Complaints Handling and Redress in a FCA regulated context.
- Experience of the application of governance structures to ensure that risk and decisions are escalated appropriately putting the appropriate systems and controls are in place to monitor and mitigate all material risks that may impact delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Senior stakeholder management including regular updates and delivery of Management information.
- Extensive budget management experience and the production and management of financial and business plans.
- Experience of procuring services from external third parties and ensuring effective ongoing service management of contracts and relationships. E
