We’re on the hunt for a visionary Director of Data Engineering to lead the design, build, and optimisation of our data engineering strategy across our banking, retail, and data insights business units. This role is at the forefront of driving innovation, operational excellence, and tech transformation as we scale our Reward Product portfolio globally.

As a key member of our senior leadership team, you’ll bring a balance of strategic vision and hands-on expertise – building world-class engineering capability while working cross-functionally to deliver data solutions that power every corner of our business.

🔍 What You’ll Be Doing:

• Set & Execute Strategy: Define and deliver a group-wide data engineering strategy aligned to our long-range business goals
• Optimise Delivery: Own the end-to-end Data Engineering function – from roadmap to release, BAU to compliance
• Build Best-in-Class Teams: Lead, inspire, and grow a global team of data engineers, with a focus on performance, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Lead Transformation: Drive tech modernisation in partnership with our Technical Director and Architecture teams, minimising tech debt and optimising tools
• Operational Excellence: Improve delivery velocity while maintaining exceptional quality, managing environments, SLAs, and infrastructure costs
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate across the business to champion data-driven decision-making and translate technical thinking into business value
• Belfast Tech Ambassador: Be a key figure in developing our Belfast Tech & Ops hub – a centre of excellence for innovation and delivery

✅ What You’ll Bring:

• 10+ years of leadership in data engineering, ideally across complex, fast-paced organisations
• A proven track record of delivering data strategies, managing large teams, and leading technical transformation
• Strong grasp of modern SDLC and Agile delivery frameworks
• A hands-on understanding of data infrastructure, pipelines, cloud platforms, and best practices in data governance
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
• A passion for building high-performing, inclusive teams and driving meaningful impact through data
