About The Job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London within the Sales & Marketing department, this role will report directly to our Director of Sales & Marketing and will be part of the on-property leadership team. The Director of Groups and Events will be responsible for managing the day-to-day smooth running of the Sales department, alongside our Director of Sales.
Duties
As a Director of Groups and Events at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Assisting in the formulation and execution of Sales strategies to drive room and catering revenue
- Directing the Groups and Events Sales team to ensure targets are met and exceeded, fostering a high-performance culture ensuring our team act as entrepeneurs within their areas.
- Growing existing business and finding new revenue streams and partnerships
- To handle and oversee all Group and Event enquiries, ensuring the team are proposing, following up, contracting and carrying out site inspections to achieve high levels of conversion.
- To effectively manage a portfolio of key assigned accounts through planned sales activity, maximising account potential in terms of rate, room-nights and / or events in accordance with overall sales strategies.
- To focus on the growth and continued production of existing assigned Group and Event Accounts, both domestic and international and to develop new Group and Event Accounts that are suitable to the pricing strategy of the hotel.
- To foster excellent collaboration and communication with operational departments (Event Operations, Kitchen, Front of House).
As a Director of Groups and Events we expect from you:
- A proven track-record in managing a team, with excellent leadership skills to drive results, coaching team members to deliver and exceed targets.
- You are passionate, motivated and take pride in being driven and organised in your approach, leading by example for your team.
- Extensive industry experience within the London Luxury Market.
- You will be a natural relationship builder, both externally and internally, fostering teamwork and communication across the hotel
- You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
