Job Title: e-Learning Content Creator

Location: London - Hybrid Working

Salary: £30,000-£38,000

Department: People Directorate - NatCen Learning


We are looking to recruit an experienced e-Learning Developer to deliver a suite of e-learning modules by transferring and developing existing content into professional marketable self-paced learning units. You will work with subject matter experts across NatCen to create e-learning, providing digital learning expertise and support to the growing NatCen Learning team.


Key Responsibilities

You’ll be working alongside the NatCen Learning Manager and two Senior Researchers to build e-learning content based on existing resource and course materials using an e-learning authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline 360 or Adobe Captivate. As an e-Learning Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, interactive e-learning courses that meet the needs of our diverse audience base. You’ll play a crucial role in creating engaging and effective digital learning solutions to drive the uptake of social research e-learning in both the UK and internationally. You’ll collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design and develop interactive self-paced e-learning content. You will also work to develop e-learning content to enhance the training and upskilling experiences of our internal employees.


Instructional Design & Development:

  • Utilise existing course content to create a suite of e-learning.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and the NatCen Learning team to design, develop, and implement e-learning courses and modules.
  • Create interactive and visually appealing learning materials using e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.).
  • Ensure all course content is instructional, accessible, and aligned with adult learning principles and the latest instructional design practices.
  • Adapt content for diverse audiences and learning environments, ensuring that courses are inclusive and accessible for all learners.


Course Management:

  • Manage the development process from concept to completion, ensuring courses are completed on time and with commercial forethought
  • Update and maintain existing e-learning content to ensure it remains relevant, engaging, and up to date with new research projects and findings.
  • Gather feedback to improve the learning experience and identify areas for improvement ensuring a commercially viable end product.
  • Produce completed branded content that aligns with our organisational identity and NatCen Learnings new 3 year strategy.


Continuous evaluation:

  • Develop and implement strategies to assess the effectiveness of e-learning programs to inform any necessary modifications during creation to optimise learning outcomes.

General

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in e-learning development and instructional design.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues.


To perform any other reasonable duties that NatCen may require that are consistent with the broad nature of the job


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Requirements of the role:

  • At least two years experience working with e-learning authoring tools and designing and delivering digital learning content.
  • Proficient in creating clear and detailed storyboards.
  • Capable of providing a portfolio of digital learning products, including examples of content developed with an e-learning authoring tool.
  • Skilled in using authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline 360 or Adobe Captivate.
  • Familiarity with SCORM and xAPI standards.
  • Knowledge on interactive web applications such as JavaScript is a bonus.
  • A creative approach to developing innovative learning solutions.
  • Great organisation skills with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to create engaging, learner-centred experiences.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • A degree-level qualification in multimedia/computing or equivalent is desirable but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of social research concepts and methodologies is a plus.

  • Other duties which may be required from time to time.
