Working hours Full time 37 hours per week (flexible working arrangements including part time will be considered)

Permanent

Salary up to £51,090 per year (depending on experience)

Location hybrid working with office location at Pity Me, Durham

About The Role

The ECC Supervisor is a newly created key role within NWL’s assets commercial team. Working closely with our project delivery team, you will have overall responsibility for overseeing and ensuring construction works meet the specified quality, technical, and contractual standards under the NEC engineering and Construction Contract (ECC). The role is central to maintaining compliance, identifying and rectifying defects, and supporting successful project outcomes.

As NWL gears up for the next AMP 8 asset investment period (2025-2030), we are developing our internal capability to effectively and efficiently deliver our forecast £3.6bn AMP 8 capital spend, in support of NWL’s business objectives and customer outcomes. The ECC Supervisor will play a critical part in delivering projects efficiently, safely, and in alignment with our organisational objectives and stakeholder expectations.

The role involves providing expert advice and guidance on the NEC ECC processes, monitoring contractor performance on-site, and ensuring that NWL’s interests are represented effectively. The ECC Supervisor works closely with project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to manage quality assurance, health and safety, and risk mitigation activities throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

You will have demonstrable experience in supervising construction projects, ideally within the framework of NEC Engineering and Construction Contracts (ECC). You will have a proven track record in overseeing contractor compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.

You will have extensive knowledge of the NEC ECC contract, including roles, responsibilities, and processes such as Defects notification and Compensation Events. You will have experience working with Scopes, Early Warnings, and Risk Registers and Engineering standards.

You will have experience delivering infrastructure, civil engineering, or construction projects from inception to completion, identifying and resolving technical and quality issues during construction within a relevant sector such as highways, utilities, rail or water.

You will have a good understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality assurance processes and be proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

You will have excellent communication, problem-solving, and report-writing skills, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse teams and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
