Description

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Soulbury A 1-6 (plus 3 SPA points 7-9)

We are seeking to recruit an Educational Psychologist who is committed to improving educational and life experiences for children and young people. The post is open to experienced HCPC registered Educational Psychologists and to Trainee Educational Psychologists due to qualify in September 2025/2026.

You would be part of a highly skilled and dedicated team of Educational Psychologists, Specialist Advisory Teachers and Behaviour and Wellbeing Officers and we very much look forward to you joining us in one of the most beautiful areas in the country.

We are looking for an evidence-based practitioner who can use and apply psychology to deliver high quality preventative work and statutory advice; promote learning, social inclusion and emotional health and wellbeing, enable children and young people to overcome barriers to inclusion and support schools to help them meet their educational outcomes.

You will need to demonstrate knowledge of child development, psychological approaches and legislation relating to children and young people. You will also be highly organised, flexible, hard-working and able to work under direction as well as on your own initiative. You will need to be able to communicate with a variety of audiences including children and young people, families, colleagues from within the local authority and partner agencies.

Although we all have an office base, we are all equipped with the technology to work from home including a laptop and smartphone. We all have access to Microsoft Teams and many meetings are conducted remotely. This can significantly reduce the amount of travelling, which is important given the size of Westmorland and Furness!

We operate a time allocation model, and all our work is free at the point of delivery. Every school has a named EP an allocation of sessions based on the number on roll. Planning Meetings are held with schools to discuss any concerns at the individual, group or whole school level, which enables us to plan the work for the term. All EPs support the delivery of the Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) course, both the training and ongoing supervision groups.
