Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated
Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a
Key Stage One pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the pupil’s academic engagement, emotional well-being and social development, ensuring they can fully access learning in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualised support to the designated pupil, helping them engage with learning activities and build confidence.
- Implement strategies to support the pupil’s social and emotional development.
- Work closely with the class teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to adapt teaching approaches to meet the pupil’s needs.
- Monitor and record the pupil’s progress, providing feedback to staff and parents as required.
- Foster a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, promoting resilience and independence.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, staff and families.
- Patience, empathy and a commitment to supporting children's well-being and learning.
- Ability to adapt flexibly to the needs of the pupil.
- A good understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to child protection.
