As a Track Engineer - Track at TfL, your focus will be on carrying out pre-site survey and investigations for Renewal Track works; providing survey support for Track Designs; assisting Delivery teams with track installation; undertakingchecks on as-builts of completed works for Engineering Assurance & Project Handback; providing engineering support during weekend possessions and carrying out engineering assurance checks on Principal Contractors works including track alignment sign off. You will also be engaged in reviewing workbanks, developing asset management plans and progressing maintenance assurance.
You’ll make sure assets are safe, working and compliant; develop your own solutions; and be a trusted source of engineering advice for everyone, including our Heads of Engineering Delivery.
In this role you will provide the professional engineering ability and leadership required to ensure that assets constructed by the Track Project teams are appropriate to meet TfL’s current and future needs, and that the implementation will achieve a compliant and cost-effective asset in a way that will have the least detrimental effect on TfL services.
As a Track Engineer, you will be required to provide direction and support to staff within the Permanent Way community and their managers employed in roles relating to the scoping, design support, installation, management, maintenance and renewal of track infrastructure.
Essential Skills, Knowledge And Experience
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent working experience in railway engineering environment
- Proven experience in interpreting track design drawings and documentation to provide site technical support to Construction Teams
- Technical report writing
- Experience in Scoping & Scope Definition
- Skilled in reviewing/checking re-rail drawings for track renewals
- Experience in track setting out preferably in Concreted/Slab Track Environment
- Understanding of CDM Regulations and Client Responsibilities
- Familiarity with CSM – RA and experience of NR Standards preferable
- Experience in use of track gauges and survey instruments
- Working knowledge of Asset Management Systems preferable
