Design Engineer to join the Design department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About The Role
Working closely with the Lead Designer you will be responsible for developing engineering designs from initial concept through to production to deliver solutions within weight, cost, and timing targets.
What You Will Do
- Reporting into a wide range of projects through the Design Group, you will have a good understanding of engineering and be able to adapt to mechanical, composite, and electrical systems across a wide range of projects for a broad customer base.
- Working closely with the Lead Designer, you will be responsible for developing engineering designs from concept through to manufacture, working within weight, cost, and timing targets.
- Be responsible for developing 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Attend design reviews to present, discuss and critique ideas and to review alternative solutions.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure cost, manufacturing capability and quality targets are met.
- Generate and present project material to customers and key internal / external stakeholders as required.
- Be involved in issue solving and rectification as required.
- Support Business Development with early design concepts as required.
About You
- A Degree (or equivalent) in mechanical, automotive, electrical, or aerospace engineering or be able to show capability by proven experience.
- Adequate experience of design in the specialist automotive or motorsport industry or be able to show that your experience is transferrable to an advanced engineering environment.
- You will have a good understanding of engineering and be able to adapt to mechanical, composite and electrical systems as required.
- High level of literacy in Siemens NX and Teamcenter, working knowledge of CATIA V5 would be beneficial.
- Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Work with a level of independence, respond quickly to issues and to maintain departmental standards.
