About the role:

We’re looking for an Engineering Technician to join our team and support the digitisation and management of engineering information. This is an office-based role, ideal for someone with a background in engineering maintenance, design, process operations, or instrumentation, who is confident interpreting technical documents and wants to move into a more structured, data-focused environment.

You’ll be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications—such as P&IDs, equipment data sheets, loop diagrams, and mechanical/electrical drawings—to extract technical information and create structured digital records. You’ll help ensure our clients’ engineering data is accurate, searchable, and aligned with operational and compliance requirements.

As the Engineering Technician you will:

  • Reviewing and interpreting engineering documents, including P&IDs, specifications, and data sheets
  • Extracting key technical information from drawings and documents with attention to detail
  • Converting paper-based and PDF documentation into structured digital records
  • Creating and maintaining links between data points (e.g. tag hierarchies, systems, and equipment relationships)
  • Ensuring data is complete and compliant with ISO standards and client requirements
  • Searching engineering registers and online sources to fill gaps in technical information
  • Liaising with suppliers for missing equipment data when needed
  • Generating reports and summaries for stakeholders based on validated engineering data
  • Supporting other team members and sharing knowledge around engineering data best practices

Requirements

Here are the key skills and experience relevant to this role:

  • Experience working in an engineering environment (e.g. maintenance, design, commissioning, process ops)
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and documentation such as P&IDs, loop diagrams, and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and an interest in data accuracy and structure
  • Ability to identify key technical details from complex documents
  • Good understanding of equipment types and tagging conventions
  • Comfortable using MS Office and working in a digital environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support others
  • Any experience with engineering registers, asset systems, or digital data tools would be a bonus
