Description

Imagine working at the forefront of innovation in fluid-flow technology, with over 1400 colleagues across the globe, and contributing to a legacy of excellence that spans eight manufacturing facilities on four continents. Armstrong Fluid Technology is more than just a leader in our industry; we are a community of the brightest and most creative minds, driven by a shared mission to engineer the future and safeguard our planet.

As a member of our team, you'll dive into an environment that encourages learning and boundary-pushing every day. You'll be part of an agile and dynamic workplace where today's solutions are built for tomorrow's challenges.

We are looking for an experienced Multi-Disciplined Technical Engineering Manager to lead the development and delivery of offsite-built integrated building services solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background in modular, prefabricated building services (MEP) systems and extensive experience in managing multidisciplinary teams across various engineering disciplines (mechanical and piping, LV electrical, public health, automation and control, structural, architectural) and a proven track record of supporting projects from concept to completion.

This role requires a visionary leader who can integrate offsite construction techniques with innovative designs, ensuring high efficiency, sustainability, and quality in modular and prefabricated solutions for various sectors, including commercial, data centre, industrial, and allied industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management:
  • Manage and mentor a team of circa 25 multi-disciplined engineers and design technicians.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering projects from concept, design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary coordination between engineering disciplines.
  • Technical Oversight:
  • Provide technical leadership on all aspects ensuring that they meet or exceed industry standards and client requirements.
  • Lead new modular solution development and drive the adoption of smart, energy-efficient technologies and be a champion of innovation.
  • Ensure design-for-manufacture-and-assembly (DfMA) principles are applied to deliver efficient, scalable, and cost-effective modular systems.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions to complex challenges, ensuring compliance with regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Oversee the review and approval of engineering designs, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Project Management:
  • Develop the framework for all technical aspects of solution development and engineered projects, from initial design through commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are aligned with project milestones and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Manage design risk assessment, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and monitor project performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production teams to oversee manufacture, ensuring that engineering designs are translated accurately to production.
  • Compliance & Quality Control:
  • Ensure that all engineering designs meet relevant codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct audits and inspections to maintain the highest levels of system performance and safety.
  • Support rigorous quality control measures throughout the design, fabrication, and installation phases.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Act as the primary escalations point of technical queries related to engineering disciplines.
  • Present technical reports and progress updates on innovation and new solution development to senior management, and project stakeholders.
  • Support business development initiatives by providing technical expertise in proposals and client meetings.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

Key Skills:

  • Leadership and team management
  • Project management (budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation)
  • Cross-disciplinary technical knowledge (HVAC, MEP, electrical, public health, fire protection)
  • Knowledge of modular and offsite construction methods preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience with sustainability practices and energy-efficient building services solutions

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in building services engineering
  • Experience with offsite construction or modular HVAC systems solutions would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex projects, ideally in modular construction.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and integration in building services HVAC and allied sectors.
  • Proficiency with design and modelling tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and fabrication management systems.
  • Experience in design-for-manufacture-and-assembly (DfMA) principles.
  • Familiarity with building regulations, codes, and standards, particularly in modular or prefabricated construction.
  • Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) status preferred.
