Engineering Technician

About the Role: As an Engineering Technician, you'll be at the forefront of technical and developmental engineering. You'll work closely with our R&D engineers, using your expertise to conduct cutting-edge research, build and test prototypes, and troubleshoot projects. This is a hands-on role ensuring no two days are ever the same.


What You’ll Do:


  • Collaborate with R&D engineers to develop innovative system layouts and new manufacturing equipment.
  • Get hands-on with building and testing prototypes, using a variety of tools and materials.
  • Conduct experiments, collect vital data, and communicate your findings clearly to the team.
  • Prepare detailed build instructions, technical reports, diagrams, and manuals to support engineering projects.


Key Interactions: While your primary focus will be on Research and Development, you’ll also work closely with quality assurance and other departments as projects progress.


Leadership Expectations: Demonstrate excellent time management skills, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently. Uphold the highest standards of quality and safety, be adaptable to project requirements, and collaborate seamlessly with your team.


What You Bring:

  • NVQ in an engineering-related subject or relevant technical certifications
  • Ongoing commitment to learning and staying updated with industry developments
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills, with a knack for problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Strong ability to communicate technical information and build/test prototypes
  • A keen awareness of health and safety standards


Experience: Previous experience in a similar role, especially within the photonics industry, is highly desirable.

Additional requirements

Business English is required. You may also be required to travel up to 10% annually, potentially globally.
