About The Role
As a Trainee Engineer, you will either hold a minimum of a Batchelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (or a HNC in Electrical Engineering and previous engineer experience), with a background that includes skills that would be transferrable into our business.
As part of this role, you will receive one year of intense training that will introduce you to Electricity North West, provide you with an appreciation of Electricity North West’s Electrical Engineering Contracting business, working on public and private networks from Low Voltage through to Extra High Voltage, designing and constructing electrical infrastructure and generation.
On successful completion of your training, you will be employed as Design or Project role and you will be responsible for the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of work on the LV & HV distribution network to time, cost and quality targets; ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation and company codes of practice.
You will then have an opportunity to progress with further on job training and technical, commercial and leadership training courses as part of a tailored personal development plan to accompany the role.
Principal responsibilities of the Substantive Role (following successful completion of 12 months of Training programme )
- Control and monitor resource, scheduling all works whilst maximising productivity of all available resource.
- Act as point of escalation for the customer, site and office teams for delivery elements of both design and delivery of current and future projects.
- Drive excellent customer service for internal and external customers, identifying potential risks / complaints and put mitigation in place to ensure the job runs smoothly.
- Liaise on project cost and provide progress reporting to the programme, finance and operations managers, on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
- Ensure projects are programmed in a timely manner, all documentation is controlled and circulate supporting client SLA’s and financial targets.
- Review and capture project outputs and ensure accuracy and quality of the data.
- Promote the company’s reputation through a positive attitude and behaviours, good time keeping and a professional appearance.
- Continually seek to identify future sales opportunities either providing sales leads to the business development team and/or supporting estimators in the pricing and drafting of sales tenders.
- Stand in for other Project team members as required.
Who We Are Looking For
- Hold a minimum of a Batchelors Degree in Electrical Engineering; (or a HNC in Electrical Engineering and previous engineer experience) that includes skills that would be transferrable into our business.
- Demonstrate a high level of Electrical Engineering knowledge
- Be able to work by yourself with a minimal amount of supervision and take responsibility for your own development.
- Be proficient in MS Office with good analytical skills and with the ability to produce and interpret spreadsheets and to produce technical and numerical reports.
- Be focussed on providing exceptional customer service.
- Be an excellent written and verbal communicator.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
