We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team as an
ESG Reporting Lead.
Reporting to the ESG Director, the ESG Reporting Lead is responsible for overseeing the management and enhancement of the ESG Register and ensuring compliance with ESG regulations and standards across the organisation.
They will play a pivotal role in enabling the organisation to meet its sustainability commitments, track performance against ESG targets, and provide accurate and transparent reporting to stakeholders.
The role has a flexible working location across our Arriva Business Units, operating on a full-time basis Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with one hour lunch per day.
Direct Responsibilities Of The Role
- Lead the creation, implementation, and ongoing management of the ESG Register, ensuring the ESG office captures all essential data accurately and supports the organisation’s compliance and reporting needs.
- Monitor and apply relevant ESG regulations (such as CSRD, TCFD, GRI, SASB) to ensure the organisation meets all compliance standards across local and global reporting frameworks.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities related to ESG reporting practices and advise the ESG office accordingly.
- Coordinate with departments such as Legal, Finance, and Operations to gather required information, align on reporting needs, and work with ESG Data Lead to ensure data quality for all ESG disclosures.
- Working with the ESG Data Lead to integrate ESG data from all Business Units, ensuring consistency and accuracy in alignment with the ESG Register and reporting standards.
- Provide guidance for reporting, ensuring that all Business Units follow a cohesive format that aligns with CSRD and other regulatory requirements.
- Regularly review and assess ESG data submissions to ensure full compliance, addressing gaps or inconsistencies proactively.
- Offer ongoing support, training, and guidance to Business Units on ESG reporting requirements, ensuring clarity in data submission processes and standards.
What we'd like from you!
We’re looking for candidates who possess in-depth expertise in comprehending and implementing the reporting requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Familiarity with ESG regulations and reporting frameworks such as CSRD, Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) will be key to ensure the organisation meets all compliance standards across local and global reporting frameworks.
Candidates Will Also
- Have a good understanding of greenhouse gas Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi)
- Be skilled in consolidating ESG data and insights from all Business Units, transforming them into cohesive, comprehensive reports, and redistributing tailored information effectively at both the group and individual unit levels to support targeted action and alignment.
- Have strong skills in communicating ESG results to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management and external stakeholders.
- Be detail orientated and highly accurate when executing their work, as this is crucial for ensuring compliance and reliability in ESG disclosures.
- Have experience managing reporting timelines and collaborating with multiple departments to meet project deadlines and ensure quality reports.
- Be proficient in report generation and presentation tools; familiarity with ESG-specific software and platforms is advantageous.
- Be a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, business acumen, and commercial awareness.
- Have knowledge of ESG metrics and their relevance to the organisation’s operations and reporting obligations.
- Be able to recognise potential risks linked to reporting, and formulating strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Stay up-to-date with developments in sustainability reporting regulations and standards.

The role will involve some travel so candidates must be willing to undertake such travel as part of the role.
