About The Role
This is an opportunity to take on an influential role within the international events content team of a dynamic, entrepreneurial media and publishing business specialising in the legal sector. Our offices are located on Fleet Street, at the heart of London’s legal industry. This is an excellent role for the right candidate, offering opportunities for personal growth and regular international travel.You will be responsible for content relating to The Legal 500’s flagship in-person events, including the GC Powerlist and GC Summit. You will also contribute to smaller roundtable discussions, forums, and other initiatives. A key aspect of the role involves attending these events in person to host and oversee proceedings, while positively representing The Legal 500 to an audience of senior business leaders and lawyers.The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer and researcher with an interest in the legal services market and experience in B2B writing. They should be personable and comfortable collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including event managers, business development teams, and delegate acquisition executives, as well as senior lawyers and business professionals who attend and sponsor our events.
Key Responsibilities
- Researching and building relationships with top lawyers, managing communications, conducting interviews, and producing written summaries.
- Editing the GC Powerlist publication to ensure accuracy and adherence to house style.
- Managing content for the GC Summit conference series, including developing the full agenda in collaboration with clients.
- Taking ownership of assigned projects.
- Sourcing expert speakers to contribute to conferences.
- Moderating panel discussions on legal and business topics at events, ensuring engaging and informative dialogue with panellists.
- Coordinating with the wider events team to meet attendance targets, focusing on both numbers and the seniority of attendees.
- Promoting events via social media.
- Meeting content submission and communication deadlines.
- Working effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Supporting new event initiatives, including brainstorming, project planning, budgeting, timeline creation, and strategies to enhance attendee experience.
- Networking effectively at events, promoting The Legal 500’s offerings positively, and maintaining relationships with contributors.
Key criteria
- Ability to spend up to 40% of your time travelling internationally
- Excellent spoken and written English
- At least an undergraduate degree
- A minimum of two years of professional experience
Desirable criteria
- Fluency in additional languages, particularly Spanish or Mandarin
- Prior experience in the legal industry
- Experience as a conference producer or in an editorial role
