The Executive Director (Resources) is instrumental in leading the Council’s operational, financial and advisory services.
The Role
Responsibilities
The Executive Director (Resources) will be responsible for leading and managing the Resources Directorate, ensuring the effective delivery of services within the areas of:
- Finance, Property & Procurement
- Strategy & Governance (HR, Legal & Democratic Services and Audit)
- Transformation, Customer & ICT
The Executive Director (Resources) will provide strategic advice and support to the Chief Executive, Senior management, Council members and other key stakeholders.
The Executive Director (Resources) will oversee the budget setting process, the legal and constitutional framework of the Council and will be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of services to the public, internal services and external partners.
Experience of managing and embedding significant organisation change will be required in this key role. You will have the ability to build and manage relationships, fostering joint working across service and organisational boundaries
Our ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Extensive experience in a senior management role within the public sector, preferably within local government.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with elected members, trade unions and external partners.
- Experience of financial management within a complex organisation.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organisational priorities into actionable plans.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Second stage interviews: Friday 11 th July (Please note, this will be a full day in person at Shaw House, Newbury)
