About The Team
The LASER practice in EY is focused on developing creative solutions in a range of mainly solvent restructuring scenarios, working with clients to rationalise legal entity structures (UK and globally), return capital to shareholders of owner managed and private equity backed businesses, unwind investment trusts and private client structures as well as merging and demerging and restructuring groups and businesses across all sectors, including Financial Services. Many of our engagements have a pronounced cross-service line angle, working with colleagues across EY’s Assurance, Law but especially Tax practices.
At present the LASER team has over 45 client facing staff and the solvent restructuring market remains very active. We are, therefore, looking to grow the team , increasing our market share by working with more businesses.
The opportunity
As an Executive, you will make a significant contribution to LASER engagements, expanding our business and delivering exceptional service to our clients.
Working under the supervision of a Manager, Senior Manager, Director or Partner, you will contribute to delivering services across the UK practice. Within your role, you will actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships.
Technical Skills Requirements
- Display a high level of commercial acumen, an awareness of the key drivers of group rationalisation projects and requirements when returning capital to shareholders
- Able to identify key issues on assignments and suggest workable solutions
- Experienced in presenting findings clearly in reports and other deliverables to clients
- Appreciation of the risks associated with all stakeholders which may be inherent in projects advising corporates and shareholders
- Experience of working in a regulated environment
Client Responsibilities
- Key responsibility will be to ensure the progress of a portfolio of cases across a number of insolvency processes but with a major focus on members’ voluntary liquidation engagements
- Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress
- Prepare analysis as required in draft form to be delivered to clients and other parties
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with management and/or shareholders and other key stakeholders, as required
- Build strong internal relationships within LASER, the wider Restructuring practice and across other service lines within EY
- Strong communication skills, building effective relationships at all levels
People Responsibilities
- Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff
- Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting, retaining and training Restructuring professionals
- Take responsibility for continual development through access to EY’s wide variety of professional and personal development courses
Requirements
- Experience in a restructuring and insolvency practice, with experience of including members’ voluntary liquidations
- Proven ability to work across a portfolio of client engagements on a regular basis
- Professional accountancy and/or tax qualification an advantage but not essential
- CPCI or CPI qualification an advantage otherwise a willingness to engage in these qualifications expected
