Our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) team were established to help our clients overcome significant challenges, where there could be a potential knowledge/skillset gap or lack of resource. They work directly with Finance teams to help them deliver business critical projects. These can range from more simple issues e.g. year end accounting to working with firms going through more complex issues e.g. IPOs and M&A. The FAAS team sits within our Deals and Business Consulting and works closely with a range of clients across different industry sectors. A look into the role
If you enjoy working in a commercially focused, varied role that will help businesses and communities flourish, you’ll fit right in.
Specifically, you will become responsible for the client engagement and project management of several projects which are already underway.
You will be expected to undertake the relationship management for these clients and projects.
This includes:
- Building strong relationships with clients to maximise commercial opportunities for FAAS and the wider firm
- Weekly or fortnightly client check-ins to check how our secondees are performing and to develop the client relationship, enabling you to spot any possible further opportunities for FAAS or other Grant Thornton teams
- Weekly or fortnightly secondee check-ins to check on their wellbeing, help with any issues and follow up with any administrative points such as late timesheets
- Finding additional resource for the client should they require it, which will involve assessing who would be the right fit for the role and client
- Completing all internal and external documentation regarding onboarding new secondees on to the project and any extensions – including IR35 determinations, contractor contracts, and contracts with the client
- Ensuring revenue and costs forecasts are always up to date
- Providing regular delivery updates to the rest of the Clients & Markets team
You will also be expected to assist with new opportunities as directed by senior members of the team.
This will involve:
- Reviewing resource options and discussing the role with candidates to identify who would be the best fit
- Drafting the proposal to the client and arranging introduction calls for the client to meet the potential secondees
- Handling take on (with the assistance of our support team).
Outside of these two main focusses, you will have an involved part in the pipeline business development of the team through:
- Building long term relationships with clients and targets by holding periodic calls with them after unsuccessful proposals or engagement completions, to understand what else is on their agenda and whether Grant Thornton can assist them
- Working with the rest of the FAAS team to deliver our growth strategy by getting involved in our growth initiative working groups and actively targeting entities on our focus list
- Engaging with internal BD initiatives such as joining sector specific calls with members from other Grant Thornton teams and participating in other internal events/calls to raise the profile of FAAS.
Knowing you’re right for us
Joining us as a Manager, it would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way;
- Ideally you will be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/equivalent) and be passionate about supporting, advising and helping businesses achieve their potential.
- Ideally you will have gained your experience in a practice environment e.g. External Audit, however it would be beneficial if you also have some industry experience.
- You will need to have excellent project management skills and be able to work well within a team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills for managing and building client relationships.
