The Role
Portsmouth High School has a vacancy for a Facilities Support Assistant to join our busy caretaking team to provide cover for staff absences (planned and unplanned). The successful candidate will help deliver the School’s aims and objectives by ensuring the school is in a material state to support teaching and learning and any booked lettings. Work days will involve ensuring the safety and security of the site, general porterage (manual handling), supporting event set-up, and driving the school minibuses.

A D1 manual driving licence is an essential requirement of the role (you can check for this on the back of your driving licence card). Candidates will also need to be physically active to cope with the demands of school lock-up, event set-up and deliveries.
The Department
The school is based across three sites (the Prep school, the Senior school and the Science block). Facilities, transport and gardening staff work together as part of a wider department to ensure a fit-for purpose site - an efficient, safe and pleasant environment which supports teaching and learning and the marketing of the school.
The School
Portsmouth High School has been educating girls since 1882 and is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) which is the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools. Pupils are happy, confident and ambitious giving them an unparalleled preparation for life. The school is located in Southsea, an attractive region on the south coast with excellent transport links. The area has retained much of its original Georgian character; two of the school buildings were designed by architect Thomas Ellis Owen who was instrumental in shaping development of the local area.
