Description

Are you an undergraduate/ graduate engineer looking for a summer placement? Have you had experience as a drone pilot or field robot operator with a passion for robotic vehicles and an interest in or currently working with autonomous robot technology? If so, we are looking to talk with you about an exciting opportunity to join Earth Rover Ltd.


In this role you will be primarily responsible for supporting Field Testing, ensuring the product meets customer requirements. This will include in-field validation and operation of autonomous agricultural robots on our partner and customer sites in the UK and Spain. You will be taking customer feedback to assist future development as well as supporting problem solving in a structured manner.


Earth Rover is a start-up company founded in 2017 to solve the challenges faced by an organic farm and more importantly for all farms who want to reduce their reliance on chemicals and accelerate the journey to Net Zero.

Responsibilities

  • You will be supporting Field Test activities including test planning, instrumentation, data acquisition and rover programming for field operation. You will build experience in data collection, analysis, and presentation of test results to customers and the Earth Rover team to demonstrate product validation.
  • A passion for completing a job to high standards efficiently, accurately, and safely are a must.
  • An appetite for being outdoors is essential as the role will sometimes be in challenging conditions.


Qualifications

Essential experience, training or skills:

  • Undergraduate/ Graduate Engineering – Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronic/ Agricultural Engineering 
  • Experience in test planning, test execution and data analysis.
  • Experienced in Instrumentation, Data acquisition and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work to a structured Problem-Solving methodology (8D, Triz, or equivalent)
  • Ability to communicate effectively as part of a remote team and build high performing relationships with all stakeholders, both internally, and on a customer site.
  • Excellent attention to detail, high levels of organisation.
  • Enthusiastic attitude, and a willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Experience in agriculture and/or farming industry.
  • Training and capability in safe handling of heavy equipmen.
