Oliver James are currently recruiting for a Finance Analyst to join our insurance client in London on a full time permanent basis. This team provides financial, accounting and regulatory services for one of this clients entities. In this team there is a flexible structure where you will work in various roles on multiple projects keeping your role broad. This role would be suitable for a graduate with a relevant degree.

The successful candidate will be working as a team across main areas of work. Liaising with other business functions such as Actuarial, IT , Claims and Underwriting.

Main responsibilities will include (not limited to) :

  • Maintaining/monitoring the regular financial processes for this entity.
  • Producing the monthly management account pack to support business decisions.
  • Statutory reporting, including managing the external audit process.
  • Regulatory and branch reporting (including Solvency II).
  • Preparation and submission of tax returns.
  • Ad hoc projects as required.
  • Maintain a high performance culture through effective communication, teamwork and training.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of accounting matters.
  • Continuous improvement of financial systems, documentation and processes.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external teams.

To be successful you will also need the following attributes:

  • Highly analytical with strong problem solving skills.
  • Strong IT skills, with good programming skills or a keen interest in developing such skills.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships across all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, managing time and resources appropriately.
  • Ability to take on various roles within a project team.
  • To be comfortable with peer review (giving and receiving) and to challenge others' work and opinions appropriately.
  • Ability to present clearly to the team and management.
  • To be able to demonstrate good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to document work appropriately.
