Internal Audit Executive - Generalist

Location: London

Package: Negotiable + Benefits

As part of our ongoing journey of growth and building on our approach as a Forever company we’re looking to appoint an Internal Audit Executive to perform audits across the company’s operations, including financial, operational, compliance, and IT controls. The role involves evaluating internal controls, assessing risk management processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and industry standards. The successful candidate will contribute to improving the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes within the organisation..

You’ll be working with some fantastic Teammates at all levels to make sure we’re ticking all the right boxes and our teams are working as compliantly and efficiently as possible.

This is a brand new role and will have some significant potential for development as we continue our ongoing growth across the Insurance market both within the United Kingdom and Europe.

We’re looking for a Teammate to join us with prior experience of the Insurance Broking / MGA / Insurer world or proven experience within practice of assisting Insurance businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Audit Planning and Execution:
  • Plan, execute, and lead internal audits across various departments including underwriting, claims, finance, and IT, based on annual audit plans and risk assessments.
  • Develop audit programs and test plans, ensuring they are tailored to organisational needs and risks.
  • Perform comprehensive reviews of internal controls, financial processes, operational procedures, and compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Risk Assessment and Internal Controls:
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls to ensure they are effective in mitigating key risks to the business.
  • Identify areas of potential risk, including fraud, operational inefficiencies, and regulatory compliance issues..
  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
  • Ensure compliance with insurance industry regulations
  • Review compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in preparing for and supporting external audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Audit Reporting:
  • Prepare clear and concise audit reports that document findings, risks, and actions.
  • Present audit results to senior management, highlighting key risks and proposed corrective actions.
  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure that corrective actions are implemented and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration and Advisory:
  • Work closely with department heads, management, and other stakeholders to assess risk, develop controls, and enhance processes.
  • Provide advisory support to operational teams, helping them understand audit findings and best practices for risk management and compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement and Professional Development:
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, insurance regulations, and audit best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal audit processes and methodologies.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Fraud Prevention and Detection:
  • Conduct fraud risk assessments and assist in investigating suspected fraud or misconduct.
  • Work with management to improve fraud prevention measures and create awareness of fraud risks across the organization.

About You

You’ll already have solid exposure, with around 3-5 years’ experience, in Internal Audit, preferably within the Insurance Industry and be looking for the next step in your career where you can drive a function forwards.

You’ll be a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Accountant or other relevant qualification. You will possess a strong understanding of insurance industry operations, including underwriting, claims, processes, and financial processes; experience with risk management frameworks, internal control evaluation, and regulatory compliance requirements; familiarity with audit software and data analytics tools; a well-developed skill set that includes high level Communication (Written, Verbal, Video), Analytical, Stakeholder Management, Influencing and Problem Solving skills coupled with the ability to use related IT related packages.

You will show strong ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to confidentiality and professionalism; and be proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently. You will be team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with various departments and have the adaptability and ability to thrive in a dynamic and changing environment.

You will also be comfortable when required travelling to various business locations outside of London
