Finance Business Support Controller - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

Reports to Finance Business Support Director, London, UK


Location: London-based hybrid role, with a presence in the office as agreed.


Job Summary

Reporting to the Finance Business Support Director MedComs and Sci Comms Centre, the Finance Business Support Controller will be a key member of the team and responsible for the controlling, financial management, reporting, budgeting of the Business both in the UK and US.

They will work closely and independently to create a real and active partnership with both operations and management and provide 'real time' support, challenge, and analysis. They will be trusted advisers and add value that will assist in decision making and drive finance performance.


They will have a mix of financial, analytical, commercial and communication skills which are at the heart of a successful finance business partnering.

Integrity, independence from the Business and full compliance to Finance rules is key. Financial Planning & Analysis team is the principal source of planning and analysis of the Group, informing and supporting the decision making of Executive Management Team and the Private Equity Investors.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Proactive understanding, improving, reporting and controlling of the impacts on financial and business performance.
  • Providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely financial management information is prepared with detailed analysis of the business, drive accurate forecasting.
  • Working in close partnership with the rest of Finance, the individual business holders and the group consolidation team provide accurate, timely and comprehensive annual budgets as well as re-forecasts.
  • Conduct regular review meetings with related business teams to act as a key point of contact for their own area to support and challenge the budget holders with commercial business, capital and investment proposals.
  • Drive preparation of ad hoc Business cases with the different stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, manage and optimize cost review for own area to ensure costs are reported and optimized.
  • Responsible for monthly/recurrent presentation of financial performance for own area, full year forecasts and budget variances including understanding financial opportunities and risk.
  • Ensure key operational, commercial, and financial targets are delivered.
  • Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with all senior leaders and their teams.
  • Challenging management to ensure that all concepts have been properly considered before decisions are made.
  • Challenging current ways of working, driving efficiency and cost savings wherever possible.
  • Support and contribute to the overall streamline of finance controlling process and tools.
  • Be comfortable dealing with and working through issues and operational challenges with project teams and other stakeholders, getting into details to ensure you understand the revenue /cost drivers of the business and can provide insight to the non-finance members.
  • Be advocate of Financial Knowledge competencies and Company financial objectives amongst non-finance colleagues in strong coordination with the rest of Finance.


Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Experience in business planning and analysis within a global international company.
  • People business skills.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS365 including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience in SAP an advantage
