Finance Business Partner (Tech&Product) – Payments / Fintech (Large Cap- exit in 2 years)

A rapidly growing FinTech organisation is seeking a Finance Business Partner to support its Technology and Product functions. The business delivers accessible, cutting-edge payment solutions to empower companies of all sizes, and is focused on innovation, scalability, and long-term value creation.
This role sits at the intersection of Finance and Technology/Product teams, providing commercial insight and strategic financial support to drive performance and optimise investment across platforms and development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial planning process for the Technology and Product teams, including the development of budgets and forecasts.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders, including the CTO, CPO, and CEO, to align financial plans with product and tech roadmaps.
- Monitor performance against budget, providing variance analysis and recommendations to inform future planning cycles.
- Deliver timely and insightful management reporting across Technology and Product spend, including capital and operational expenditure.
- Track key metrics such as development velocity, product delivery timelines, and ROI on tech investments.
- Support improved consistency, clarity, and transparency in reporting to enable strategic decision-making at senior levels.
- Analyse cost drivers and KPIs within Technology and Product functions to support effective resource allocation and performance improvement.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate different scenarios relating to product development, platform enhancements, or infrastructure investments.
- Collaborate with department leads to ensure financial metrics are well understood and linked to business outcomes.
- Provide strategic financial guidance on technology investments, vendor agreements, R&D initiatives, and build vs buy decisions.
- Contribute to long-term planning around product innovation, digital transformation, and tech scalability, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Provide ad-hoc financial insights and support to Tech, Product, and cross-functional leadership teams.
- Conduct industry benchmarking and analysis to inform product investment decisions and identify areas for competitive advantage.
- Partner with teams across Finance, including FP&A, treasury, and accounting, to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
- Build strong working relationships with technical and product stakeholders, acting as a commercial advisor and liaison between Finance and operational functions.
About You:
- Fluent English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capability, able to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA or CFA are a distinct advantage.
- At least 4 years’ experience in a finance business partnering, FP&A, or commercial finance role – ideally with exposure to technology or product-led environments.
- Solid understanding of capitalisation of development costs, software lifecycle, and tech investment evaluation.
- Experience supporting R&D, SaaS metrics, or Agile delivery models is beneficial.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and challenge constructively within cross-functional settings.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and financial planning systems.
- A proactive, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and a passion for supporting innovation through sound financial management.
